STRENGTH IN UNITY
United finally were accepted into the Wakefield & District FA League Division Two for 1972-73. This brought about United's first success winning the Championship and League Cup at the first attempt. The season didn't start as expected, although they won their first game at home to AFC Walton Res, they lost their next at home to bottom club British Jeffery Diamond and then dropped further points losing away at Lamb Sports before only drawing 3-3 at Cherry Tree. However they only lost one further game, conceding the double to Lamb Sports, another draw, this time against Normanton Exchange, and won the remainder of their games to take the title by 3 points.
