United are pleased to announce that local business Howarth Services have kindly agreed to sponsor the first team shirts. Managing Director Ian Howarth has his business based in Hall Green and Wakefield. The Club is very gratful to attract sponsorship during the difficult financial climate. A photo session was held prior to Sat's home County Cup tie.
The postponed Reserve Team League Cup tie against Littletown Reserves will now be played on Saturday 22nd November 2008, kick off 1.45pm at Painthorpe Lane. If the adverse weather continues a pitch inspection will take place the morning of the match. If any doubt exists players are asked to telephone the Club for information after 12.00noon.
NEW FIRST TEAM MANAGER
United are pleased to announce the appointment of Rowland Lanes as First Team Manager. Rowland was asked to take up the position mid June and after considering other offers he accepted the position with immediate effect. Having Managed Pontefract Colliery for the last 4 years Rowland comes with a wealth of experience having previously Managed Featherstone Colliery, Altofts, Tadcaster Albion, Glasshoughton and Pontefract.He has all the relevant qualifications and training will commence on Thursday 3rd July, 7.00pm at Hall Green.
PRESENTATION EVENING
United's Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening was held last Friday at the Royal Spice in Darton. The function was attended by 60 members which included guests, Chris and Amanada Laughton who are Club sponsors. Presentations were made to First Team Players Player of the Year Mathew Marsden, Reserve Team Players Player of the Year Richard Trueman, First and Reserve Team Managers Player of the Year Lee Speight and Tony Finean respectively. Further awards were presented to Michael Sunderland who has made 300 appearances for the First Team. Both Danny Empsall and Mathew Marsden were also presented with awards for reaching 200 first team appearances.
