First Team Manger Roly Lanes today rocked the Club by informing the players that he was leaving to take up the position of Assistant Manager at Hemsworth MW. With only two days to the start of the season his timing was appaling and leaves a lot to be desired. The Hemsworth Secretary has confirmed that Roly had been chasing the position for a while now which begs the question why he didn't inform the club earlier to allow for a replacement to step in. The whole squad feel very deflated after they gave him full commitment throughout close season training, at a time when he knew he was seeking to leave.

Saturday 24th January 09
For the third time the Sheffield County Association Cup 4th round tie had to be postponed. Heavy rain once again put paid to the tie despite  attempts to 'fork away' the water on Friday. Although 95% of the pitch is playable  the corner, near the houses, is struggling to deal with the water as it runs off the cricket field. Arrangements have been made to place sand on the damp areas this week and hopefully this along with improved weather, will make the pitch playable. Drains at this point have been exposed and appear to be clear (our ground contractors will run water through them this week to test for any blockage) which would indicate it is just shear volume of water.

Winners of this tie will play hosts to Sheffield Reserves in the semi- final which will be played Saturday 14th March 2009. In the other semi-final Kirkburton are at home to Aston AFC.

The postponed Reserve Team League Cup tie against Littletown Reserves will now be played on Saturday 22nd November 2008, kick off 1.45pm at Painthorpe Lane. If the adverse weather continues a pitch inspection will take place the morning of the match. If any doubt exists players are asked to telephone the Club for information after 12.00noon.
